With more individuals purchasing items online and having them delivered straight to their home through delivery, the e-commerce industry has surged in this time of the pandemic. However, concerns for safety and health were emphasized thus the need for an absolute contactless delivery.
Edgar Injap Sia II of MerryMart Consumer Corporation believes that their company has found answers to these problems. He unveiled their plans to install smart lockers nationwide where customers can collect and drop off packages, making deliveries more safe and convenient during the pandemic.
MBOX Smart Lockers are the first self-service lockers similar to post office boxes, but these lockers are accessible 24/7 for costumers at minimal or no additional costs. When a package is delivered and placed inside the locker, it will be then disinfected with UV light and send a pickup code to the costumer’s SMS or application notification hence eliminating the need for face-to-face contact.
“This pandemic has seen a record rise in deliveries and has highlighted the need for a contactless efficient green delivery alternative. But beyond this, we believe that MBOX will improve Filipinos’ online purchase experience and give consumers, couriers and merchants a more convenient, efficient, and secure alternative of delivering and receiving packages,” said MerryMart Chairman Edgar “Injap” Sia II.
The company is starting to roll out over 5,000 MBOX Smart Lockers in strategic spots nationwide by 2030.
Last December 21, 2021, MBOX Smart Lockers were installed in Iloilo City, making this the first MBOX community hub in the Visayas region. The next MBOX Community Hubs are set to be installed Roxas, Kalibo, Bacolod and Dumaguete in the following months this year.
