According to Sensor Tower Store Intelligence estimations, the mobile edition of miHoYo’s Genshin Impact has reached $1 billion in player spending in less than six months after its official launch on September 28, 2020.
Since its release, the game has been a global smash hit, grossing $874 million on the App Store and Google Play in just five months. Since December, player spending has averaged around $160 million each month, with the title having accumulated more than $148 million so far in March. This puts the game on course for its highest month since October, when it earned $233.7 million solely from mobile.
In addition, on both Google Play and Apple App Store, Genshin Impact was voted Game of the Year.

The only criticism this game has received is in regards to its monetization approach, which is a gacha system akin to loot boxes. However, because of its randomness, many people equate it to gambling. Some even doubt if Genshin Impact is a true free-to-play game.
