Arena of Valor (Chinese: ; pinyin: Wángzh Róngyào), a multiplayer online battle arena developed by TiMi Studio Group and released by Level Infinite for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch for markets outside of Mainland China, is now known as Arena of Valor (Chinese: ; pinyin: Chuánshu Dujué), formerly Strike of Kings. The game has made over $140 million outside of China as of September 2018. Arena of Valor was one of six Esports video games that were played in competition at the 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the 2021 SEA Games, the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, and the 2018 Asian Games. Garena, DeNA, Actoz SG, and TiMi Studio Group all released Arena of Valor in additional areas.

Gameplay

A mobile multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game called Arena of Valor was created. Arena of Valor’s overall gameplay is remarkably similar to League of Legends, a PC MOBA game created and released by Riot Games, a sister company to TiMi and a subsidiary of Tencent. Riot Games also developed and published League of Legends.

Heroes are the characters that players control; each hero has a special set of skills. Heroes begin the game at a low level and have a variety of ways to gain gold and experience (XP), including killing monsters, minions, or other non-player characters, defeating other players, demolishing structures, passively through time, and through special equipment that may be bought in the shop. Experience increases the hero’s power by unlocking and enhancing abilities. Since items bought in the shop do not carry over between games, every player starts every match on an even playing field.

Players receive rewards from matches, such as gold, which they can spend to purchase a selection of heroes or arcana. Additionally, players have the option of playing a “Ranked” match type, which matches them with competitors of a similar skill level and evaluates them according to their in-game “ranks.” Stars are gained for victories and lost for defeats.

Modes of Play

  • The most popular game format in Arena of Valor is “5v5”, which is also known as Grand Battle or Ranked Match and is played on the Antaris Battlefield. These competitions, which typically range between 12 and 18 minutes, feature players. The goal of the game is to eliminate enemy turrets on the battlefield while also achieving goals like slaying Abyssal Dragon and Dark Slayer. Destroying the adversary’s core is required for win.
  • In the 5v5 game format Abyssal Clash, participants are assigned randomly chosen heroes. The option to reroll once and get a different hero is available to players. Abyss Canyon, the game’s map, includes just one lane, two connected turrets, and a core base at either end. There are some limitations that do not apply in the standard 5v5 mode: Hero healing at the team base is disabled, and items may only be bought before leaving the base or after dying. Each turret has a life regeneration rune that gives heroes a marginally stronger regeneration benefit.
  • One lane, two brushes on the left and right sides of the horizontal battlefield, an HP pot, one tower, and one core for blue and red are all that are included in the 1v1 game variant known as Black City Arena.
  • On Flatland Battlefield, Shadow Duel is a 3v3 game mode with a considerably smaller map. There is only one turret and a core base for each team in this version of the game. These games are made to be played much more quickly and usually last 4 to 6 minutes.

Hero types

  • Marksman: Also referred to as a “AD Carry/ADC,” marksmen are ranged heroes who typically provide most of their physical damage via auto attack. This kind of hero provides constant damage, making them valuable in team battles to lower the health of the opposition. They are also quite effective in capturing targets like turrets. However, they are frequently weak and exposed. Tel’Annas, Valhein, and Yorn are a few examples of marksmen.
  • Mage: Mages are often referred to as “AP Carry/APC” at times. These heroes inflict a lot of magic damage in bursts. Depending on the respective itemization, some mages are more delicate than others, and vice versa. Mages can be either melee heroes, who do damage up close, or ranged heroes, who deliver damage from afar. Mages include people like Lauriel, Liliana, and Tulen.
  • Heroes like the assassin are built to deal a lot of damage rapidly and frequently have low health. The opponent marksman or wizard, as well as any other weak heroes, are frequently sought after by assassins for easy elimination. They are also in charge of stopping opponents who are out killing people. They can focus on valuable enemy targets thanks to their great mobility and burst damage. Murad, Nakroth, and Zill are three examples of assassins.
  • To be able to absorb damage for the team, tanks must have a lot of HP and typically have a purely defensive setup. They frequently cause minimal harm as a result. However, they frequently possess ‘crowd control’ skills that enable them to impede the opposition team’s mobility. They can also employ these powers to start a teamfight or to stop the opposition team from assaulting important targets like an ally marksman or mage. Xeniel, Thane, and Toro are a few examples of tanks.
  • Warrior: Heroes who combine the strengths of a damage dealer and a tank, offering a reasonable degree of both survivability and damage. Warriors are frequently referred to as close-range melee duelists since they typically have a balanced quantity of health, defense, and attack damage. As a result, they can fight for extended periods of time and excel at doing sustained damage over time. Warriors are well-rounded and frequently excel in 1v1 battles. Florentino, Rourke, and Omen are a few warriors.
  • Support: Heroes with skills that help the rest of the team by healing them, granting friends bonuses (like increased movement speed), hindering the opposition (like stunning them), or doing a mix of the above. In the early laning phase of the game, support heroes are frequently paired with the marksman. The support heroes don’t kill minions, instead focusing on helping their partner and harassing the opponent heroes. As ally marksmen are frequently weaker in the early stages of the game and depend on assistance to survive, support heroes typically assist them. Krizzix, Alice, and Annette are a few examples of supports.

Armory

Armory is what strengthens your hero. You can use and personalize four primary tools to prepare your hero for battle. Our guide will offer you a basic overview of their roles in Arena of Valor.

Equipment

All goods from the shop are considered equipment. Killing minions, monsters, or opposing heroes will gain you gold, which you can use to buy equipment. Each hero has a set of default item builds. However, as you gain experience with the game, you will be able to exchange single goods, replicate pro builds, and adjust in-game.

The goods provide various stat boosts to your hero. Some also grant strong actives with long cooldowns or passive effects that activate only under certain conditions.

Talents

You will acquire access to up to 9 talents as you level up. In the champion choosing screen, you select a talent. These abilities give various, extremely powerful effects with a lengthy cooldown.

Sprint, for example, is the first one you’ll see. Activating it increases your hero’s movement speed for a few seconds at the cost of a 100-second cooldown.

Arcana

After completing the first several levels, you will be able to access the Arcana. Arcana pages include 30 spots: 10 for each of the red, blue, and purple arcana. You get two free pages to customize and a couple of pre-set pages that cannot be changed.

Upgrade those Arcana sets to raise your hero’s base stats to increase your hero’s power even more. There are three levels, and the Arcana stats become more potent with each level upgrade. You must invest gold or Arcana fragments to level up your Arcana. The latter can be obtained through leveling up and taking part in events.

Enchantments

Enchantments add more potent effects to your hero’s survivability, damage, or overall impact in the game. Veda, Afata, Lokheim, and the League of Humans are the names of the four Enchantment Masteries.

You get to select one main and two minor enchantments. Each Enchantment has three levels, with Tier 3 being the most powerful. You can choose two tier 1 Enchantments from the three others you didn’t choose as your main Enchantment or a tier 1 and a tier 2 Rune of the same Enchantment for the two minor Enchantments.
